Honeywood Schoolhouse

The Honeywood Schoolhouse Artist Retreat currently has one dorm room and two private rooms. Camping is available.

Although we hope to offer two dorm rooms soon, please note the current dorm with shared accommodation is mixed gender with 7 beds in one room!

*Only welcome dinner on the first night is provided. Participant is responsible for all other meals.

About the schoolhouse

An inspiring space designed to spark creativity and enhance productivity

Nestled along a picturesque country road, the charming schoolhouse sits on 3 acres of woods and wildflowers, complete with a serene path for peaceful walks. Built in 1927, the property boasts a spacious deck, as well as a firepit for evening hangouts. Inside the schoolhouse, you’ll discover a stunning 800 sq ft studio with a beautifully crafted, naturally sprung wood floor — an inspiring space designed to spark creativity and enhance productivity.

Accommodations

Accommodations include one room with 7 single beds, or the option of 2 private rooms. All guests have access to 2 toilets/sinks and a shared shower.

Please note: This is an old but charming schoolhouse, full of character and rustic charm.

What to bring

  • twin sheets and pillowcases (pillows and blankets are provided)
  • Towels, a bathing suit*, slippers, bug spray, movement clothes, reusable water bottle, and a journal

A washer and dryer available for guest use

Food

A simple vegetarian dinner with gluten-free options is provided on the first night ONLY. After the welcome dinner, participants are responsible for bringing and preparing their own meals. A fully equipped kitchen is available for shared use, and a grocery store is just 15 minutes away for all your needs.

Getting here

The schoolhouse has plenty of parking available.

While public transit is limited, we are happy to help coordinate car-pooling.

There is also a train you can take from Union Station to Barrie, then it is a 40 minute drive or a 65$ Uber from there to the Schoolhouse.

*All week-long workshops include a refreshing afternoon of swimming at a nearby lake.
