well we did it
it was a long day and Aaron Phelan was great... so was the cinematographer... and the sound woman and the crew etc... I learned sooooo much! We used a location that Aaron found- an old abandoned house... perfectly Raisinhead esque... it will be exciting to see how it looks in the end!!
What did I learn?
Well, slightly closer to something like what film acting might be like- although this was really a video of my solo... so not at all the same I am sure... but having to nail it after waiting around... which wasn't that hard actually
when I managed to practice what I preach! Using the physical awareness to load up sensation and release quickly... it helps that I know the lines so well, although by the end of the day I had to keep asking Aaron to hand me the script... I am curious to see how the 'over the top' bits look on camera....
I am a bit terrified actually to see it all... but again, one of the main points for doing this was to learn how my work does/does not translate to this other medium called video (I have done tons of theatre documentation video before, but this was different... closer and more direct to camera at times...)
so even if I don't like what I see, I will learn something... so it is all win, win...
